10 Horror Villains That Even Viewers Could Beat Up, According To Ranker

Some horror villains have the strength and skills to be serious threats, but Ranker pulled together the ones who would be easy to beat in a fight.

Popular TV shows like First Kill have proven that supernatural creatures don't have to be scary, but for those who are, it's best to have a plan to defeat them. For vampires, it's a supply of crosses and stakes at the ready, and for werewolves, silver bullets. Yet for many other killers, it's a case of just beating them up.

Although the terror of many horror villains may paralyze their victims, creepy children and haunted dolls aren't actually that hard to fight off. As horror depicts more potential victims fighting back instead of running away, it will be important to show what happens if the main characters actually win the fight. Based on this idea, Ranker pulled together a list of horror villains that could be easily taken down in a fight, and let their readers decide who was the easiest to defeat.

Note: Ranker lists are fan-voted, live, and continue to accrue votes, so some rankings may have changed after this publishing.

Samara Morgan is a spirit who tracks down everyone who watched a cursed videotape seven days later unless they pass on a copy of the tape. However, while she has supernatural abilities, she seems to only focus on the most recent viewer. This means that, theoretically, the tape could be copied and spread in a structured way that keeps anyone from being killed.

Assuming that isn't possible, it would be reasonable to assume that Samara could be captured while attempting to kill the most recent viewer. Rachel was able to trap Samara in The Ring Two, so it seems just as possible that someone could allow themselves to be taken to Samara's world, beat her up, and force her into the well before sealing it off.

The supernatural psychological horror film It Follows introduces the Entity, a being that slowly chases whoever has most recently received the curse. While it is a horrifying concept, both because it is in constant pursuit and because it prompts others to pass on the curse like a chain letter, there's no evidence it would be hard to beat in a fight.

Those capable of seeing the Entity tend to either run away or pass the curse on, but it might be best to just fight it instead. None of the Entity's forms seems to possess tremendous strength, so it's only as difficult as beating up a random person on the street. Though the protagonists don't seem to be very successful at taking it down, it's definitely worth a try.

Of all the villains in The Conjuring universe, Annabelle is undoubtedly the easiest to defeat. Annabelle does have supernatural abilities that go beyond the doll's physical abilities, but they require a certain amount of proximity. While defeating the doll requires human sacrifice, halting it seems much easier, as the doll could be kept away from people it could harm.

At the end of the day, it's just a doll, and it wouldn't take much for a person to get control of it. Anyone fighting the fictional doll could take a page out of the real-world Annabelle doll, which is kept in a case and blessed by priests on a regular basis. The supernatural abilities may be a threat, but a doll will probably never be the killing machine that horror movies make it out to be.

Ghostface is the iconic killer from the Scream franchise, but the killer's skills depend on which of the 11 different killers is under the mask. While they all possess the ability to keep going, despite life-threatening injuries, they all get beaten up on a regular basis in the movies.

Ghostface is just a person at the end of the day. Depending on the incarnation, they might have a bulletproof vest on, but that's it. People should get away from the knife as far away as possible, and anybody with common sense and basic fighting skills can end up winning out, especially if they exploit the costume's limitations and the person underneath's compulsive love of horror tropes.

Norman Bates's greatest strength is his quiet demeanor, which makes it so he wouldn't be suspected of being a serial killer, but that's in large part because he wouldn't make a very good one without the element of surprise. Norman only kills when his "Mother" persona takes over, so the best way to take him out is to get to him before his personality switches.

As "Mother," Norman is a pretty dangerous foe, but only because she is so volatile and eager to kill. Norman is skinny and untrained in any fighting skills, which means that he would be relatively easy for someone to take down if they knew what they were doing. Yet he shouldn't be underestimated or people shouldn't plan on taking a shower before going for the kill.

Annie Wilkes is the best horror villain of the 90s, and the discovery that she is actually a serial killer means that her next target could be anybody. That being said, she prefers her victims to be weakened, getting Paul after a car accident and frequently killing infants and patients. She doesn't fare as well against those who are at full strength.

The usual methods of fighting should work against Annie, but she demonstrates in Misery that she is willing to go beyond the boundaries of what most people would expect. Her critical weakness, however, is her love of the Misery Chastain novels, so those prepared with fun facts have a decent chance of distracting her long enough to take her down.

The Saw movies may be terrifying, but that's only because the victims wake up within the trap. While Jigsaw is one of horror's most depraved villains, he's not much of a threat in his day-to-day life. Those who knew Jigsaw was actually John Kramer could easily take him down as he goes about his normal life.

Kramer has a terminal case of cancer, so his strength and fighting abilities are extremely low. His victims usually had to go through some extreme torture in order to survive, so if they can handle that, they can definitely defeat an old, sick man. People just need to be careful, since he has many accomplices watching his back.

In The Human Centipede, Dr. Heiter drugs and kidnaps tourists and surgically connects them to create a multi-person digestive system. It's a truly horrifying concept, and Dr. Heiter is an absolutely irredeemable villain. However, his ability to force his victims into such a torturous position relies on drugging them.

For those looking to defeat a horror villain, Dr. Heiter is a doable adversary. Though he is depicted as a genius with many different ways to sedate his victims, he relies too much on the belief that they are fundamentally lesser than he is. A good fighter with the right weapons could defeat him, as long as they don't let him sedate them first.

Rosemary's Baby may be a terrifying slow-burn horror movie, but the villains aren't that threatening. The true horror in the film is the lack of agency Rosemary has over her own body, which is due to the amount of control the men in her life have over her. But if she really wanted to get back at her tormenters, Minnie Castevet is just an old lady.

While there is reason to believe Minnie has supernatural abilities, they seem to require planning and rituals. Rosemary ends up trapped because she is bound by politeness, but she definitely could beat up an old woman if she really wanted to. She could be thrown out a window or punched several times. Either way, it wouldn't take much.

Chucky may have a lot of kills under his belt, but he needs the element of surprise. He doesn't have any supernatural powers beyond his ability to possess the doll, so anyone who can put the doll in a situation it can't get out of can win. For example, in Child's Play 2, Andy and Kyle slowed him down using melted plastic and then blew his head up with pressurized air.

Admittedly, Chucky can take a lot of damage and still keep fighting. But he's still just a doll. If killing him feels like too difficult of a task, just contain him in concrete so he can't move. The spirit of Charles Lee Ray may be a killer, but he needs to be able to move to do it. Stop Chucky from moving, and he's not much of a threat.
