ERLING HAALAND has smashed a Premier League record, after bagging three home hat-tricks in a row.

Phil Foden has also landed a treble, with his goals coming after United's defence was caught dozing.

Premier League top scorer Haaland has become the first top flight player to score consecutive hat-tricks at home.

Antony and Anthony Martial have scored for United, who may have avoided a repeat of their 6-1 humiliation in 2011.

Ilkay Gundogan pinched Erling Haaland's match ball at the end of Manchester City's derby triumph… to make sure that fellow hat-trick hero Phil Foden got his hands on it.

Haaland and Foden grabbed three goals apiece as City battered Manchester United 6-3 at the Etihad this afternoon.

Haaland, 22, proudly held the match ball at the end of the game - yet another to add to his rapidly growing collection.

The Norwegian banged in his third consecutive home hat-trick, with Gundogan clearly feeling that Foden merited the ball more after his maiden Prem treble.

While chatting to Haaland at the end, the German cheekily stole the ball from him, before throwing it at Foden.

The surprised star was taken by surprise as it hit his chest, before smiling and gratefully clutching it.

Man City striker Erling Haaland set THREE new records with his latest hat-trick against Manchester United.

Haaland set a new Premier League landmark as he became the first player to score three hat-tricks in three consecutive home matches.

The goal machine's latest treble took his tally up to 14 in the Prem.

This means he is this season's top scorer in Europe's top five leagues and he is ahead by a big margin.

Haaland's record breaking afternoon did not stop there - he had a hand in five of City's six goals also assisting Foden twice.

As a result, the 22-year-old has smashed the record for most goal contributions in one Manchester derby.

Man Utd legend Gary Neville has been lambasted online after predicting his former team would beat Manchester City.

One fan tweeted: “Gary Neville before the start of the game – City are getting done… Just like your punditry…not a blooming clue.”

Another posted: “Listening to the Gary Neville commentary on Sky, he’s definitely holding back tears.”

A third wrote: “Is there a bigger jinx in world football than Gary Neville?”

This supporter stated: “Oh dear, this has not aged well.”

And that one tweeted: “You meant United were getting done, right?”

Brentford have brilliantly trolled Manchester United following their derby day demolition by Manchester City.

United were on the end of a 6-3 thrashing from Pep Guardiola's side, with Erling Haaland and Phil Foden both running out with hat-tricks.

Upon seeing today's result The Bees brilliantly trolled Man Utd on their Twitter page.

They Tweeted: "Brentford Man City, 4-0 up at half-time," accompanied by a handshake emoji.

Ferdinand rues 'gulf in class'

Rio Ferdinand tweeted about the 'gulf in class' between Man City and Man Utd, after watching his former side thrashed by their rivals.

After just 40 minutes, and with City leading 3-0, Ferdinand first tweeted: "My phone is pinging right off...For all the wrong reasons ffs.', before quickly adding 'Bunker pending....."

Next, he wrote: "WhatsApp groups on fire... for all the wrong reasons..."

The former England centre back concluded:  "The gulf in class between @ManUtd & @ManCity is bigger than I thought before this game had kicked off...."

Neville slams United's flops

Man Utd have been slammed for “bottling” the Manchester derby by Gary Neville after their embarrassing 6-3 defeat to Manchester City.

“The story of the game is that in the first half Manchester United froze. There’s no doubt they bottled it,” he told Sky Sports.

“They have been really nervous. They have just not handled this derby at all.

“I expected so much more from United. There was no composure. They never settled. They were anxious and nervous on the ball.”

Man City boss Pep Guardiola wants better from his players despite hammering Manchester United 6-3.

However Guardiola was not overly happy with the team’s performance in the second period.

He told Sky Sports: “It was really good. We scored four goals and we could have scored more really.

“They played better in the second half and the last minutes was flat, but it was a good game and everyone in the stadium was happy.

“In the first half we were aggressive and had the space and the quality of players we had up front made the difference.

“We can win or lose but there are many things we can do better. Some players were not good today so they have to improve.

“Perfection doesn’t exist, it’s impossible. But we must try to look there.

“We did good, we can do better, many, many players had sloppy passes. This is not good. We have to be more consistent. In some areas we were still not good.”

Ten Hag shows Ronaldo 'respect'

Erik ten Hag has responded to questions from the press regarding his decision not to use Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese legend remained on the Manchester United bench despite the Red Devils making five substitutions at the Etihad.

But afterwards Ten Hag revealed that he did not want to insult the striker by introducing him with United already 4-0 down to their rivals.

The Dutch coach said it was 'out of respect for his big career' that he kept the 37-year-old out of the action.

City close gap on leaders

Unbeaten Manchester City once again narrowed Arsenal's lead at the top to one point after dismantling rival Manchester United.

Pep Guardiola's reigning champions already have a positive goal difference of 20.

United remain sixth after their four-game winning streak was brought crudely to an end.

Haaland goes on smashing records

Not many players have scored three Premier League hat-tricks.

Among those that did bag at least three trebles, it took Michael Owen 48 games, Ruud van Nistelrooy 59, Fernando Torres 64, Andrew Cole 65 and Luis Suarez 71.

It has taken Erling Haaland just eight games.

Eriksen honest in derby assessment

Christian Eriksen has pulled no punches in his post-match interview, labelling Manchester United's performance as 'unacceptable'.

It was a very, very bad day at the office. We started on the wrong foot, they had chances straight from the kick-off, and we can only blame ourselves for not coming into the game at any point. We missed a bit of courage to play out from the back. It was unacceptable.

Erling a touch of class

Erling Haaland had just 35 touches in the Manchester derby, but only needed three to ensure that he bagged a hat-trick for the third Premier League home game in a row.

Haaland loving life at City

Erling Haaland struck another three goals for Manchester City, and then afterwards told Sky Sports' Geoff Shreeves that he thoroughly enjoys how his team are set up to play.

The Norwegian was even able to share a smile with his fellow hat-trick hero Phil Foden, joking that he'd expect them each to receive a match ball after their respective trebles.

We always want to go forward. We always want to attack and this is what I love about the team. It's amazing, there's nothing more to say.

Match stats from the Etihad

An absurd afternoon that provided nine goals, four goalscorers, 34 attempts on goal and over 1000 passes.

Goals galore at the Etihad

In fact, today's game has featured the most goals ever scored in a single Manchester derby.

Full time - Man City 6-3 Man Utd

Well, Manchester United won the second half!

A stunning 6-3 scoreline in the Manchester derby doesn't tell the true story of two sides miles apart in confidence, ability and togetherness.

Man City 6-3 Man Utd

90+1. In the first of two minutes of stoppage time, Anthony Martial bags his second to add a gloss of respectability to the scoreline.

It's an absolutely brilliant penalty from Martia, who opens up his body and sidefoots high into the top right corner. No chance Ederson!

Mind you, it's been that way since the half-hour mark.

Man City 6-1 Man Utd - Bruno Fernandes yellow card

The Portuguese playmaker is cautioned for saying too much after being adjudged to have fouled Akanji.
